Alwoodley

Alwoodley adjoins two of the more prestigious residential areas in North Leeds - Adel and Moortown - and shares with them a good degree of that prestige. Characterised by larger detached and semi detached houses, but with an admixture of Council houses - many of which have been bought from the Council and sold on -the suburb is popular with affluent families and professionals. With this mix of older and varied types of housing together with newer developments that have been built in recent years the area has a good range of housing in both price and variety.

Alwoodley Golf course ranks as one of the top 50 Championship courses in the UK & Ireland and is 2nd in Yorkshire. Whilst a few rather exclusive shops (clothes, delis, etc.) can be found in Alwoodley the main shopping areas are in the adjoining suburb of Moortown. The Moor Allerton centre at the junction of King Lane and the Ring Road houses Sainsburys, Homebase, Comet, Blockbusters and numerous other local shops.

Alwoodley is not wonderfully supplied by bus routes - its social make-up mitigates towards multi-car households - but during weekdays and on Saturday there are regular buses into the City Centre along Harrogate Road and King Lane and irregularly along the Ring Road.
